Sydney Wall Art
Almost every image in this collection was made before seven in the morning. Sydney is a working harbour and a crowded coastline, and the hour before the city starts is the only time it photographs as a landscape rather than as a city. Thirty seven prints.
The two Sydneys in this collection
People searching for a Sydney print are usually after one of two things, and they are not interchangeable. One is the harbour, which is architecture and water. The other is the coast, which is surf and sandstone and has no landmark in it at all.
The harbour
Sydney Opera House at Daybreak, NSW, Harbour Bridge and Opera House, NSW and Sydney Sails, NSW are the landmark images, all made at first light when the water is flat enough to mirror. Harbour Reflections, Sydney, Australia and Twilight Calm, Sydney Harbour take the same subject at the other end of the day. Sydney New Years Eve, NSW is the outlier, and the only image in the collection where the light is manufactured rather than natural.
The northern beaches
North of the bridge the coast opens up. Barrenjoey Lighthouse, Palm Beach, NSW and Barrenjoey Sunrise, NSW sit at the top of the peninsula. Mona Vale Beach, NSW, Golden Sands, Narrabeen, NSW, Sunrise at Avalon Beach, NSW and Mystery, Whale Beach, NSW work down the coast, and Reflections on Pittwater, NSW turns inland to the flat water behind it.
The ocean pools
Sydney's rock pools are a genuinely local subject and there are four of them here. Sunrise Coogee Sea Pool, NSW, Mahon Pool, Maroubra, NSW and Mona Vale Pool, NSW all put a rectangle of still water against open ocean. They photograph as geometry, which makes them the most graphic images in the set and the easiest to hang in a modern interior.
For an office or a boardroom
The harbour panoramics are the pieces most often chosen for commercial spaces, because they are recognisably Sydney without being a postcard. Spectacular Sydney, NSW and Sydney Splendour, NSW both carry a full harbour view at a width that suits a long meeting room wall.
Frequently Asked Questions
I want a Sydney print for an office. Which should I look at?
The wide harbour images. Spectacular Sydney, NSW, Sydney Splendour, NSW and Beautiful Sydney, Australia all give a full harbour view at panoramic width, which suits a long wall in a reception area or meeting room.
Are there prints of the beaches rather than the harbour?
Yes, and they make up more than half this collection. The northern beaches from Palm Beach down to Narrabeen are well covered, along with Bondi, Coogee, Bronte, Maroubra and Freshwater in the east.
What are the ocean pool prints?
Sydney has a series of tidal rock pools cut into the coastline. Sunrise Coogee Sea Pool, NSW, Mahon Pool, Maroubra, NSW and Mona Vale Pool, NSW photograph them as geometry against open water, which reads well in a contemporary interior.
Can these be delivered framed to a commercial address?
Yes. Delivery anywhere in Australia is included in the price of the artwork, and framed pieces are packed for the chosen freight method and insured door to door. Frames are fitted with two D rings, so they hang on a standard track system. The gallery also runs a Contact a Specialist service for help with size, framing, hanging and lighting. For a larger or multi piece order, speak to the gallery first on 02 4367 6701 so sizes and framing can be matched across the set.
