Although lupins were introduced to New Zealand, they are considered very commonplace. But on this visit, my main quest was to find lupins as part of classic New Zealand landscapes. Lake Tekapo is a stunning location and many people photograph the Church of the Good Shepherd on its shore, which is without doubt an iconic landmark. But I was after something that really captured the spirit of the area and I was captivated by the light that seemed to be dancing across the landscape as certain rays penetrated the drifting cloud. I love the way the colours of the lupins blend beautifully with the dramatic sky. To me, this photo is full of gladness. The flowers, like explosions of joy, made me feel happy just to be in this beautiful location.
