Description
The Kimberley is a very dramatic and spectacular landscape. Many people are seduced by the grandeur and forget to look for the subtleties that can bring a scene to life. This is a north-facing waterfall and most people will try to shoot it in the middle of the day, to get a nice even light. But for me, the real magic of this place happens at twilight when you get a beautiful even afterglow which brings out all the subtleties of colour. It's as if the sunshine warms the scene during the day and leaves behind a glowing ember before the curtain of night descends. It often takes time to peel back the layers of a location. This is a special angle I've discovered after many visits to Mitchell Falls. I find when I sit here, just soaking in the tranquillity, it helps clear my mind and wash away all the worries of the world.
