Description
This is one of my favourite areas in Australia - the Whitsunday Islands, and more precisely Whitsunday Island itself. It is without doubt a jewel in the crown of Australia, if not the world. The sand is almost pure silica and I love the way you get such changing patterns with the tidal movement of the water. It's like a living artwork. In the foreground of this photo you see Hill Inlet, and the beach meandering off down to the horizon is the famous Whitehaven Beach. To get this shot I am precariously perched outside the helicopter. And what a beautiful day.
