Description
The promontory of the Skillion remains one of my favourite local scenes. It commands the coastline around Terrigal in every direction: in this shot, it is seen majestic in the light of the low rising sun. Yet even this massive rockform bears its scars. In recent years the local council deemed the cliffs a danger to recreational fishermen underneath. Fearing liability, they employed contractors to explode a supposedly loose section of rock. The rock in question, however, was unmoved by these titanic efforts, and even more money had to be spent stabilising the site. After more than $1million had been wasted, the headland was finally left in peace. Entitled Creation Reigns, this shot celebrates the permanence of nature when confronted with the interference of humankind!
