Description
In China, Koi Carp are said to be a sacred fish, representing strength, wisdom, perseverance, and luck. This photo was captured in the Giant Panda Breeding Base in Chengdu, China. We had taken a break from photographing pandas and bought some grain to feed the beautiful black swans in the lake. As we began to feed the swans, this mass koi carp arrived, creating a swirl of colour that fascinated me. It was as if the surface of the water had come to life and the swans were gracefully sailing through the midst of this. If It's true about the significance of Koi Carp, the owners of this pond must be very fortunate people indeed. But I would say the swans had greater perseverance than the fish, as they had to fight for their food amidst this feeding frenzy.
