Coastal Exposure Workshop

Coastal Exposure Workshop

Ken's 4-day Photography Boot Camp

12 to 16 April, 2019

This intensive, hands-on workshop on the scenic NSW Central Coast is a perfect mix of location shoots and classroom sessions.

For 2019, we’ve got a wonderful itinerary for you, with spectacular locations and opportunities to create a truly unforgettable experience.

Through Coastal Exposure, you can take advantage of Ken’s 30+ years of photographic experience and learn how to capture better images, as you shoot alongside this iconic Australian image maker. Whether you are an amateur photographer with limited gear, or a budding professional who already understands the basics, Ken’s Coastal Exposure workshop will help you take your photography to a whole new level.

Numbers for this workshop are strictly limited to ensure you receive all the personal assistance you need during the photographic shoots on location, as well as in the classroom sessions.

Why does the workshop take place on the NSW Central Coast?  Because this beautiful area offers an array of stunning scenery – and Ken knows it intimately. Ken will take you to his favourite locations and he’ll be right there with you to ensure you get outstanding photos.  You will capture the early morning horse muster at Glenworth Valley as the herd thunders through the creek; you will visit Somersby Falls to photograph the water cascading over rocks in tranquil bushland; you will enjoy the pre-dawn stillness of peaceful beaches as you set up to photograph sunrise – plus much, much more.

And on every excursion, Ken and his experienced, attentive team will be on hand to guide you, assist you and answer your technical questions.

Coastal Exposure will give you techniques and experience in a variety of photographic styles and settings.  You will be shooting on and off tripod, with and without movement, early mornings, during the day and sunsets in a variety of situations.  There will be lots of hands-on work, on location, as well as structured classroom sessions.

Your course fee includes 5-star accommodation, all your meals, personal tuition from Ken and his team, feedback on your images, classes in post processing and picture editing.  Ken will also present a very valuable session on how you can market your work, in case you ever want to develop your photography into more than a hobby.  Many people who’ve been through Ken’s Coastal Exposure Workshop have gone on to exhibit their work and several have turned photography into a career, so they get to make a living doing what they love.

Because we provide multiple helpers at all locations and in the classroom, you can be assured of personal assistance and advice every step of the way.

Your Coastal Exposure experience starts with a detailed session on photo editing and the use of Capture One software.  The knowledge you gain in that first session will be reinforced in subsequent classroom sessions as you practice post processing your own images.  You will also learn the basics of digital file management so you can confidently file, catalogue and select your best images for printing or sharing in the future. Plus you’ll learn how to process your image files to suit a variety of outputs.

The much-loved finale to every Coastal Exposure Workshop is enjoying dinner together on your last evening with the group and watching a slide show featuring over 100 of the photos taken by you and your fellow participants.

Here is an excerpt of a slideshow created from participants’ images from a previous Coastal Exposure Workshop:

Colour Match

Every effort has been made on this Gallery site to accurately represent the vibrant colours of Ken’s images. However, due to differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only to be taken as a guide. Obviously, the colour and sharpness of a finished Ken Duncan Limited Edition Print are far superior to what can be presented on a small screen.
