Description
An Aboriginal friend once told me that the land is like a recorder, holding the memories of all that happens in a given location - if we are still enough, a place will reveal its stories.
\nIn China, I felt drawn to the Li River and hired a local boatman to take my daughter and I out before sunrise. As we rounded a corner, we encountered this traditional cormorant fisherman, just starting his day. At the age of 83, he was still fishing. But change in this area is flowing faster than the Li River itself and I feel we were privileged to capture one of the final curtain calls for this ancient way of life. I am now even more inspired to record the intoxicating nature of China, for the story of its future is held in the land.
