Birds are not a subject I usually specialise in. But I do love colourful birds - especially the Lilac Breasted Roller. One day, while helping a friend understand how to photograph wildlife, we were fortunate enough to get close to this beautiful specimen. So, I thought I would try to capture a high definition image of the little guy. What fascinates me about creation, is the amazing level of detail in all creatures great and small. Here is a tiny bird, yet the palette of his plumage surpasses the finest fabrics humans can create. I am dedicating this image to my dear friend, Barry, who had a passion for birds. I believe lost loved ones can be looking down on us from above. And since Barry passed away, I have become much more aware of birds - they even seem to gravitate to me. Maybe this is the first of more to come?
