About StoryShow +
To capture this shot taught me the value of persistence. I had to return day after day at sunrise as well as sunset, to wait for the idyllic conditions of still waters and clear skies which I knew were possible here at this lakeside alcove. Eventually I was rewarded at sunrise with this stunning setting of motionless reflective waters and delicate colours dispersed throughout the sky. The bridge that spans the shot is used by people to journey from the mainland to a small island. In many ways, this bridge symbolises those precious times when we find ourselves "crossing over" from one phase of our lives to another. Sometimes it is a simple transition, at other times, genuine determination is required to leave behind our securities and head off to the unfamiliar land that lies ahead. What made this shot so precious that day, was the person who happened to be standing on the bridge. To me it was just as if he was contemplating the glory of the morning, the possibility of new hopes. As we gaze at the shot, perhaps we can place ourselves on that bridge and reflect upon our own lives; those special moments that have past, and the endless possibilities of what lies ahead.
